About This Film

Close Your Eyes is a film by, for, and about young women.

In 1972 Toronto, two young women explore what their friendship and love for each other means - and takes the audience along for all of the vulnerability, intimacy, laughs, love, and heartache that come with these kinds of deep relationships. â€‹

Close Your Eyes is the first short film from Writer/Director Hannah Warry-Smith, and stars Nina Rose Taylor and Julia Pappo. This team has known each other since high school days, and are incredibly excited about this opportunity to work together and create something beautiful to share with the world.

Where We're At

Where we are, what we need, why we need it.

The team behind this film is comprised of three young women in the creative industry. We are currently in post-production and will be editing into September 2018.

On May 1st, we launched our Indiegogo campaign to crowdfund the funds needed to make this film - you can see that page here.

The cast and crew is currently on an all-volunteer basis, with any funds we receive through the campaign first and foremost going to rental equipment, post-production editing, and film festival submissions. We are looking for any help we can get to share this project, especially when we launch our campaign. If you have any questions about us, the film, or just in general, please look to our 'Contact' page in the above menu! Thank you so much for taking the time to check out this website - we are deeply grateful.

Why This Story?

Why is Close Your Eyes important?

Supporting not only female-driven films, and films by women, but films about women, is vital. This is a love story, however you look at it, and having love stories that women can relate to and see themselves in matters. It matters because it allows people to envision themselves doing something that maybe they couldn't see before.

These are all ideals that the team behind Close Your Eyes stands by wholeheartedly. Diversity and equal opportunities must exist in film, and in all different paths of life. We are incredibly passionate about this film and the story it tells - the more honest storytelling there is in the world, the better it gets for everyone in it.
